The location was excellent for the venue of the wedding we were attending in Carsington. Taxi numbers were provided at reception which was very useful. Reception staff were very helpful in providing us with an iron and hairdryer etc on request. However there were a couple of times we rang the bell at reception when we needed something and no one came to the desk. The actual room and bathroom were a good size but the carpet was sticky. I noticed this as I walked barefoot and my feet became a little sticky. This was not pleasant. Tea and coffee facilities were minimal. We paid extra for the breakfast boxes, which were not worth the money at all. There is an Aldi on the doorstep and I would recommend getting breakfast bits from there.
Clean rooms. Comfortable bed. Only problem is that we booked this hotel due to its proximity to alton towers but its a bit further than 10 mins away. Overall a really good stay

We spent a wonderful night at the Callow Hall Hotel in May 2018. As were the only ones staying at the time (they had just had a wedding finish which had taken the whole hotel over), we had the place to ourselves and the staff couldn't have been more helpful or attentive. We were upgraded to a Four poster Bedroom over looking the grounds. The room and the bathroom could do with some TLC, but this didn't detract from the beautiful, peaceful surroundings. We ate at the hotel on the night we stayed and the food was amazing, made even better by being able to sit in the bay window over looking the gorgeous English countryside. I would absolutely recommend a stay here, we will definitely go back!
Lovely quiet country hotel. Rooms could do with refurbishing, but this did not spoil our stay. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant, and an excellent full English breakfast in the morning. Intend to return next year, as the owner has plans to refurbish the rooms and install new facilities.

V nice spot, v quiet, great helpful staff, secure courtyard. Rooms v comfortable. Cooked Breakfast is excellent.
The station hotel, a resplendent example of a voctorian hotel is spot on and delightful. Breakfast is a particular treat and the furniture is beautiful. Four poster beds are novel and a period feature and the owners/staff are the most helpful I've ever encountered. I truly enjoy the experience when I stay here.

Food is great and really cheap, the place is also dog friendly. On Easter Sunday when everything in the centre was crammed or not serving food anymore, we had a nice and relaxed meal.

Superb food and ambience. Staff go out of their way to please. I recommend it very highly. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. So, go there asap and start eating. You won't be disappointed.
Great place for food drinks and service in a very nice setting

Excellent beer garden in wonderful village location. Drinks were a little slow but all in all a very pleasant stop and would recommend to anyone looking for a rural stop or walk. Did not try the food this occasion
Friendly pub in a very picturesque village on the Osmaston Park Estate. Good reasonable menu and outside eating area. For those using public transport this pub and village just 15 minutes walk from main Derby to Ashbourne Road. Utterly stunning area sitting in a time warp. Escape to Osmaston Park Estate when the 21st century is too busy and noisy. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful cottage. Everything you could ever need, a real home from home. Great location for loads of days out, only 20 mins from Alton Towers. Will definitely book again next time we visit that part of the country.
When I entered the cottage, it felt like entering my own house. It felt really homely in this cottage. Very compact, yet a comfortable and cozy living room. The kitchen was very big making cooking interesting and convenient. The rooms were very tidy and the beds were extremely comfortable to rest. The bathroom was really clean as well. Overall, I was really satisfied with the cottage in all aspects. I can easily recommend this to anyone coming to Ashbourne for holidays.

Wonderful Hostess, made us feel welcome from the start. Informative and knowledgable about the local area (she gave us some cracking pub recommendations on our first night, and also info on where to park for free if heading into Ashbourne!) The room was beautifully decorated and so comfortable; a decent size, incredibly comfortably bed and with a veritable selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and some little chocolate bars/ murray mints which was a lovely touch. We had the back room, with beautiful views out over the fields which was fantastic and a real treat to wake up to. The bathroom... My goodness me, what a bathroom! It was possibly the largest bathroom I have ever had at any accomodation (and I have been around a bit!) Fantastic huge bath, decent shower, and generally just more than enough room for two of us and then some! The breakfast included was fantastic, we opted for the full English both mornings and it was a hearty, delicious meal. The Lilacs is a real home away from home, and as there are only two tables to take breakfast at you will most certainly be able to enjoy some friendly breakfast banter with your fellow guests, or indeed with the charming hostess. We have no complaints at all regarding our stay, however one word of advice for getting out onto the often busy main road from here, as it can be a real pain! The view to the right is really obscured by bushes from the neighbouring field and it can be incredibly hard to see oncoming traffic. We found it easier to have one person waiting for a break in the traffic and guiding the driver out! I would wholeheartedly recommend this place, and will most certainly stay again should I find myself in the area!
Friendly, clean and excellent value for money, loved it.

Jennifer and Charles are a lovely couple that make you feel very welcome and at home instantly, and to this day, my boyfriend and I are yet to experience a finer breakfast. Highly recommend to stay in this charming little cottage to anybody.
Best place iv stayed in England. Mint
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Super site, very well cared for. Will definitely be back. Toilets spotless. Excellent little coffee shop on site, coffee and fresh croissants in the mornings when open. Owners and site staff very helpful and friendly. Shop on site for essentials. Well worth a visit. Steve
Lovely site, although some of the amenities like water and waste were a bit dated. For instance, when we poured out the waste water, it was the same trough as the fresh water and just seemed a little to close to each other. The waste chemical point was also a little small. Where we we situated was next to the bins and that wasn't bad, but some wonderful individual recycling glass at 11 at night woke us! Showers are hot, on a very short press button and only one temperature. And you have to practice yoga to keep your clothes dry whilst getting back into them! Dishwashing area is good too. The playground is nice, the ground around it was boggy but that's only down to how much rain we've had this spring. The staff are very nice and accommodating and the little coffee hut serves lovely fresh coffee and croissants in the morning. Chip van on a Sunday night is a must. We'd visit again.
